Every year my welding class tries to do some form of environmental project. From planting trees around retention ponds, making flow restrictions for ditches and ponds and building artificial reefs for the OC reef Foundation. We have been building reefs for the past three years now and have contributed to the structure located on the ocean floor, making it a fish haven and not a fish desert. You may find some form of structure and no fish but you will never find fish and no structure. We always use reclaimed, reused and recycled materials for the reefs and in the spring we go fishing over them. These are the reefs we built last year a jack type that can be placed by any commercial charter captain on his trips to the bass grounds. Capt. Monty of the Morning Star out of Ocean city got us started and we have been at it ever since. If you would like to contribute to the OC Reef foundation , you can find them online and check out Capt. Monty's web site, he is a true conservationist and a very good captain for site specific reef fishing.
